Program Summary:
CDCP in partnership with Monmade offered a free 6 month Art Business Coaching Program to 5 artist entrepreneurs, working in 2D materials, to be prepared to participate in larger commercial opportunities.
Casey Droege led artists through a series of sessions including: how to prepare a portfolio of works and inventory system, understanding cost and pricing, polishing web presence and collateral marketing materials, and finally creating archival, sustainable, and durable final products.
Throughout the six-month program, participants were required to participate in a 2 hour group training session each month and a follow-up 1 hr individual meeting each month. All sessions were virtual. Participants were asked to dedicate a minimum of 8-10 hours a month to the program.
Each participant produced a series of works which were be incorporated in a co-branded collection that is marketed and sold by Monmade, CDCP, and the artists. Any sales include payment to the artist. These final products are not be held exclusively by MM or CDCP, and can be sold through any channel the artist chooses.
The knowledge gained in the program was intended to allow participants to scale their business and apply for more opportunities.
Participants had to consider creating an LLC tax structure and had to definitely carry liability insurance (with Monmade and CDCP as additionally insured), if they did not operate with these before the program.
