CDCP was built on public programming that focused on making unique and accessible arts experiences in Pittsburgh for artists, arts appreciators, and the general public. Originally established to house our keystone programs (SIX x ATE, CSA PGH, and PGH Photo Fair), CDCP has grown to open and sell an arts concept shop, establish a residency program, and build collaborations with fellow arts organizations, neighborhood districts, and the city of Pittsburgh.
CURRENT AND UPCOMING PROGRAMS
WCDC Exhibitions
Since 2020, CDCP has worked with the Wilkinsburg CDC on organizing a series of solo shows exhibiting work by artists who are either residents of Wilkinsburg or have a significant relationship with the borough. Check out all of the shows we’ve had, and what’s coming up for this collaboration.
Pedantic Arts Residency
Pedantic Residency is an arts residency that brings together an artist, a curator, and a writer under one roof for a collaborative arts experience. Founded by Headwater Media and organized by CDCP, the Pittsburgh-based residency focuses on the importance of structured contemplation for creative and engaging output.
PROGRAM ARCHIVE
Our programming is rooted in unique art buying experiences, events, and exhibition efforts. Take a look at our archive of projects that built the foundation of CDCP.
Pop-Up Programming
CDCP partners with organizations and individuals to bring special events to the community. We’ve collaborated with local and international entities, co-presenting events ranging from art exhibitions to performances featuring grief and puppets.
CSA PGH : Feeding your cultural appetite
Community Supported Art Pittsburgh (CSA PGH) created “shares” of local art to feed the public’s cultural appetite. Instead of the boxes of fruit and vegetables that one might get from a local farm as an agricultural CSA, our shares included works by local artists. CSA PGH has received local and national support to bring fresh, local art to the community. CSA PGH ended in 2020.
SIX xATE : 6 Artists + 1 Chef + You
SIX x ATE invited the public to enjoy five-minute presentations from six artists and a meal from one or several cuisiniers. All of the work presented or performed responded to the theme of the night. There were no formal Q & A’s or long-winded introductions, so guests spent most of the evening talking informally while eating and drinking. This relaxed environment encouraged real connections, spurred future collaborations and forged new friendships. SIX x ATE ended in 2021.
PGH Photo Fair
PGH Photo Fair was Pittsburgh’s only art fair promoting photography within the contemporary and fine art market. Each fair hosted 13-17 internationally established dealers, gallerists, and photography projects who showcased museum-quality prints and photo-based art spanning the history of the medium, from 19th century vintage prints to contemporary photography. The archive is currently managed by Silver Eye Center for Photography.
Exhibitions and Residencies
CDCP has created exhibitions and curatorial experiments with a number of partners. During our year-long incubation with the Cultural Trust, we worked with Curator-in-Residence Vicky A. Clark. Our two-year curatorial residency program was made possible with the help of the Mattress Factory Museum and Radiant Hall. Each iteration has encouraged Pittsburgh artists and cultural producers to connect with the larger art world.
