The Pedantic Arts Residency (Pedantic) is seeking applicants for creatives and researchers to participate in the Summer 2025 and Winter 2026 terms. Open to non-Pittsburgh residents, Pedantic is a program that provides free housing and an immersion into the Pittsburgh arts community while fostering and strenghtening creative discussion and thought. Formulated to host a visual artist, curator, and writer, Pedantic aims to encourage dialogue and cross-disciplinary exchange while establishing connections between non-Pittsburgh and Pittsburgh-based cultural producers and artists. Pedantic is also seeking applicants for The Grant, a separate program from the arts residency that is independently-led and open to those aiming to do Pittsburgh-based research.
The open call is now live and the deadline is Sunday, October 27 at 11:59PM EST. To learn more and apply, click the button below.
The Art of Democracy: 2024 Season
Keystone Progress Education Fund and Casey Droege Cultural Productions are thrilled to present the exhibition series The Art of Democracy.
The project aims to create a dialogue around our democracy as a whole and the current political climate, particularly leading up to the presidential election on November 5. These three exhibitions, located across Western PA, tackle contemporary issues of reproductive freedom, the impact of gun violence, and the growing role of artists in uniting community voices for change. Each features the work of living, regional artists thoughtfully curated into displays and public programs to foster discussion, connection, and contemplation, ultimately demonstrating what a healthy democracy should look like.
